What is Bepanthen?

History

Bepanthen was created and launched in 1944 and has been led by Bayer since 2005. We began with just three formulas, including our core product, Bepanthen® Protective Baby Ointment. Today, Bepanthen have established themselves as trusted brands and we’ve developed a wide range of pioneering skincare. Most of our products are available over the counter at your local pharmacy.

Our key ingredient: pro-vitamin B5

Over the years, our scientists have harnessed the healing power of dexpanthenol, a chemically more stable version of pro-vitamin B5, which we use in all of our products.

At a cellular level, pro-vitamin B5 is rapidly turned into pantothenic acid, which plays a key role in the coenzyme A. This in turn fuels the cell repair process, promoting regeneration in the skin epithelium.

Pro-vitamin B5 also:

  • Promotes regeneration of injured human skin

  • Heals superficial skin and mucosal injury

  • Supports the production of lipids in the skin

  • Accelerates tissue growth

  • Relieves inflammation

  • increases the moisture retention of the skin

What is Bepanthen cream good for?

In short, dexpanthenol (pro-vitamin B5) gently aids natural skin recovery, while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturized. Evidences from several studies support its efficacy and excellent safety profile when administered topically in a variety of dermatological disorders that may include:

  •  Skin abrasions

  • Petty injuries

  • Chronic ulcers

  • Ddecubital ulcers

  • Anal fissures

  • Skin transplantation

  • Non-severe burns

  • Diaper dermatitis

  • Epithelial lesions

  • And the prevention and treatment of breast fissures or skin irritations.
